This bundle is hosted on the site of our educational partner, NPACE. After you purchase the bundle, you will immediately receive a confirmation email from APEA's CE Center with instructions on how to access your purchase. You will be required to create an account on NPACE.org.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Lung Cancer Soup to Nuts
"Supported by an educational grant from Merck" This presentation will discuss lung cancer from start to finish. I will focus on needs of the primary and acute care provider. Screening will be covered in detail and how it affects outcomes. Staging and treatments by stage will also be reviewed. Treatments for advanced stage lung cancer including, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies will be addressed and there will be an emphasis on the common toxicities that primary care and inpatient providers may encounter and how to manage these.
Complete Blood Count: Diagnostic Insights for Panic Prevention
This session provides Advanced Practice Providers with a practical and clinically focused review of the Complete Blood Count (CBC) and its interpretation. The presentation breaks down each component of the CBC—red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelets, and differential counts—explaining normal ranges, common abnormalities, and patterns that signal underlying disease.
Financial Toxicity: The Impact of a Cancer Diagnosis from there and beyond
This one-hour session will focus on the significant financial burden—often referred to as “financial toxicity”—experienced by patients undergoing cancer treatment. The discussion will explore the sources of this financial strain, its impact on patient outcomes and quality of life, and practical strategies for identifying patients at risk. Participants will also learn about available financial assistance programs, community resources, and institutional support services, along with guidance on how to effectively connect patients and families to these resources.
The cancer screening you didn’t know you weren’t doing: High risk populations & screening & secondary screening in patients who have had a cancer diagnosis.
This presentation will discuss how to screen and identify the at risk patient in the primary care setting.WIth special attention to the high risk populations.
Care Coordination: The intersection of primary care, oncology, and the patient from initial diagnosis to survivorship.
This course will discuss how to assist the patient with coordination of care in the cancer patient. How to schedule testing, planning and also community resources will be discussed. Appointments and referrals can be a difficult task to coordinate. This speaker will discuss how to assist the patient on making this process easier and less stressful.
Melanoma: Soup to Nuts
This talk will discuss the latest therapies and FDA approvals for melanoma. There will also be briedf discussion on management of side effects from these therapies.
Breast Cancer Soup to Nuts
This session offers advanced practice providers an up-to-date overview of emerging developments in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Participants will review updates in staging, biomarker profiling, and the expanding role of precision medicine. On the treatment side, the session covers new systemic therapies, evolving indications for targeted agents such as CDK4/6 inhibitors, PARP inhibitors, and antibody-drug conjugates, as well as updates in endocrine therapy and immunotherapy. Changes in surgical and radiation approaches—particularly de-escalation strategies aimed at maintaining outcomes while reducing morbidity—will also be discussed. Practical guidance is provided to help APPs integrate these updates into clinical practice, enhance multidisciplinary coordination, and optimize patient education and survivorship care. By the end of the session, APPs will be better equipped to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in the rapidly evolving landscape of breast cancer management.
Colorectal Cancer Soup to Nuts
This session provides Advanced Practice Providers with an updated, practical overview of current trends and advancements in colorectal cancer (CRC) diagnosis and treatment. The presentation reviews evolving screening recommendations, including updates in stool-based testing, CT colonography, and enhanced detection strategies using colonoscopy. On the treatment side, the session highlights new systemic therapies, including immunotherapy options tumors, targeted therapies based on RAS/RAF status, and emerging agents for metastatic disease.
Symptom management in Primary Care for the Patient with Cancer
This presentation will discuss how the primary care provider provide care throughout the diagnostic workup and can manage difficult symptoms and avoid drug-drug interactions in hematology/oncology patients in tandem with the specialty provider. Nausea/vomiting and pain will be discussed as well as drug-drug interactions.
Genetic testing, it’s not just BRCA genes! Breast, colorectal, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic cancer screening updates
"Supported by an educational grant from Merck" This session will provide an up-to-date review of current multigene panel testing options and possible outcomes for patients with cancer. We will also describe the published management recommendations for those with hereditary cancer predisposition.

FACULTY
Beth Sandy, MSN, CRNP, FAPO
Beth Sandy is a nurse practitioner in the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania for the past 21 years, and an oncology nurse for 26 years. She specializes in the care of patients with lung cancer and head and neck cancers. She holds various editorial positions for oncology journals and newsletters and has published in textbooks and nursing journals about management and supportive care for patients with lung cancer. She frequently co-chairs and moderates regional and national conferences and speaks nationally on topics related to the care of patients with lung cancer.
Kelley D. Mayden, DNP, APRN-FNP, AOCNP
Kelley Mayden graduated from Virginia Highlands Community College with an associate degree in nursing in 1986. Following that, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Science in nursing from East Tennessee State University. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Liberty University in 2021. Ms. Mayden, oncology/hematology advanced practice provider at Ballad Health Cancer Care, has 37 years of nursing experience, 10 of those as an oncology nurse, and 22 as an oncology/hematology advanced practice provider. She maintains an active practice seeing a variety of patient types. Her interests include breast cancer, benign and malignant hematology, biosimilar integration, quality improvement, and cancer cost containment. Certifications include family nurse practitioner, advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner, and chemotherapy & immunotherapy administration. Active at both national and local levels, Ms. Mayden is affiliated with APSHO, ONS, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Theta Tau.
Aimee Hoch, MSW, LSW, OSW-C, FACCC
Aimee Hoch, LSW, OSW-C, FACCC, is a Masters Level Social Worker with 20 plus years of experience in both healthcare and behavioral health. Her practice is focused in oncology specifically addressing financial toxicity. Aimee earned her MSW from Fordham University Lincoln Center and is a licensed social worker. She is a Certified Oncology Social Worker.
Aimee is a Financial Navigator for the Cancer Program at Grand View Health where she created and implemented the Financial Navigation program in 2018. She is a consultant for the Cancer Support Community Helpline as a Financial Navigation Specialist. Aimee is an active member of
the Association of Cancer Care Center’s (ACCC) Financial Advocacy Network Advisory Committee, Initiatives Task Force, and has been recognized as a Fellow for the organization.
She is a member of the Medical Advisory Board at Living Beyond Breast Cancer. Aimee is a member of the Pennsylvania Cancer Coalition and their quality of life and survivorship workgroup. She is also a member of AOSW and AONN+. Aimee was selected for the CancerX Moonshot 2024 Mentor cohort. She speaks about financial toxicity and the role of financial navigation in cancer care.
Lori Ranallo, RN, MSN, APRN-BC, CBCN
Lori Ranallo is a board certified, oncology nurse practitioner at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, where she has cared for women with breast cancer for over 30 years. She is passionate about survivorship care issues and providing thorough screening, accurate diagnosis and appropriate education and referrals to her patients. She is certified in Clinical Breast Care, Genetic Risk Counseling, Lymphedema Management, Tobacco Cessation Management and End of Life Care. She is a recipient of the 2022 Magnet Nurse of the Year, 2015 Ingram's Heroes in Healthcare Award, 2011 Hematology/Oncology Nurse of the Year Excellence Award and the recipient of the 1992 E. Jean M. Hill outstanding clinical BSN student award. She is the past chair of and board member of the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) National Certified Breast Care Nurse Test Development Committee (2012-2019). She is the past Kansas State Lead Ambassador for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (2020-2022) and the past Kansas Legislative Liaison for the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society (2019 – 2022) and is very active at both the state and national levels advocating for people with cancer. She served as the President of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society (2022). She is a core faculty member for the University of Kansas School of Nursing where she provides an oncology rotation for selected Doctor of Nursing Students.
Lauren Cook, RN
Lauren Cook graduated from Catawba Valley Community College with an associate degree in Nursing in 2010. She then attended Appalachian State University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Lauren has almost 15 years of nursing experience, all of which has been in Hematology and Oncology in the inpatient and outpatient setting. She has held her Oncology Nurse Certification through ONS since 2017. She is currently Ambulatory Nurse Manager at a satellite Hematology and Oncology clinic with a larger Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she has worked for the last ten years. She has a special interest in care of the rural oncology patient, as it is often complex and challenging. Most recently, she participated in a project assessing barriers to clinical trial access for rural patients and this project was presented at ONS Congress in April of 2024. She is married and has two children. Her interests outside of work include being active in her church, exercise, reading, and baking cookies.
Lisa Kottschade, APRN, MSN, CNP, FAPO
Ms. Lisa A. Kottschade is an Associate Professor of Oncology and a Nurse Practitioner in the Melanoma and Cutaneous Oncology and Immunotherapy Toxicity Clinics at Mayo Clinic with 20 years of experience as a NP. She is the current President for the Advanced Practitioner Society of Hematology and Oncology. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Winona State University in 1996 and her Master’s of Science in Nursing from St. Louis University in 2005. Her clinical and research interests include those in the field of melanoma including its treatment and management of side effects from therapy with a special focus on those related to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors.
Mary Jane Berry, MSN, FNP, CGR
Mary Jane Berry, MSN, FNP, CGRA, is an experienced nurse practitioner with over 10 years of dedicated service in oncology. She has provided comprehensive care in both inpatient and outpatient settings in general medical oncology, and currently specializing in breast health. She is certified in cancer genetic risk assessment and manages high-risk screening programs, ensuring that patients receive personalized, evidence-based care tailored to their needs.
In her current role, she is deeply involved in breast cancer survivorship programs, offering support and resources that empower patients throughout their recovery journeys. Mary Jane also specializes in pre- and post-operative care, as well as management of benign breast diseases. She has earned Advanced Practice Provider in breast care certification by the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and continuously seeks to improve care protocols and enhance the overall patient experience, making her a vital asset to the oncology community.
Passionate about education and mentorship, she provides onboarding and training to new Advanced Practice Providers in the specialty and actively shares knowledge and best practices to enhance the field of breast health. She remains at the forefront of breast oncology care through continuous professional development, with a commitment to advancing patient education and advocacy.
Raymond Couric Wadlow, M.D.
Raymond Wadlow, MD, is a gastrointestinal oncologist specializing in pancreatic and gastrointestinal cancers at Inova Schar Cancer in Farifax, VA. Dr. Wadlow graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2000, completed internal medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003, and did his hematology-oncology fellowship training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. After seven years as a laboratory-based physician-scientist and gastrointestinal oncologist in Boston, Dr. Wadlow worked for nine years in community practice as part of the U.S. Oncology Network. In his current position, he serves as co-director of the gastrointestinal oncology research program and program director for the Inova Schar Hematology-Oncology Fellowship. Dr. Wadlow is also the director of the high-risk pancreatic clinic at the Inova Saville Cancer Screening and Prevention Center, and a principal investigator and chair of the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection (PRECEDE) Consortium’s cancer outcomes committee.
Wendy Vogel, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, FAPO
Wendy H. Vogel, MSN, FNP, AOCNP®, FAPO is an oncology nurse practitioner from Kingsport, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Tennessee Technological University and her Master of Science in Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at East Tennessee State University. Ms. Vogel is a board- certified advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner and a certified family nurse practitioner.
As well as being the Executive Director and a founding Board member of APSHO (the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology), Ms. Vogel is an Associate Editor of JADPRO and has published in several professional journals. She received the ONS Mary Nowotny Excellence in Cancer Nursing Education Award as well as the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award for the Advanced Oncology Nursing Certification Review and Resource Manual: Instructor’s Resource. She has lectured nationally and internationally on oncologic topics and the role of the advanced practitioner. She recently was recognized as an APSHO distinguished Fellow of Advanced Practice in Oncology (FAPO).
Leigha Senter-Jamieson, MS, CGC
Leigha Senter is a genetic counselor and Clinical Professor at The Ohio State University’s James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute where she specializes in cancer genetics risk assessment. She has developed multiple clinical service lines and has for the past 10 years staffed the gynecologic cancer clinic. Currently serving as Interim Director of the Division of Human Genetics, Leigha has more than two decades of research experience in hereditary cancers with a primary focus in BRCA gene-related projects with more than 100 peer reviewed publications. She is a member of the advisory board for FORCE, past member of the NSGC board of directors and is currently a board member for the Association of Cancer Care Centers.
