Karen Myrick is a nurse practitioner who has earned board certification in adult primary care, family practice, and orthopedics. She teaches the APEA Review Course & Clinical Update for FNPs and AGPCNPs and has more than 20 years of NP practice experience and academic teaching experience. Dr. Myrick was the founding director of the FNP program at the University of Connecticut and has held assistant professor, associate professor, and adjunct professor positions at universities in New England and the Midwest. One of Dr. Myrick’s areas of expertise is orthopedics, and she is the author of Orthopedic Nurse Certification Review and Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Case Studies for Advanced Practice Nurses. She has served as a chapter author or contributor for more than a dozen books and authored or coauthored more than 30 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Myrick has received the Outstanding Researcher Award from the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and was twice named a Top 20 NP by the Point of Care Network. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, the director of education for the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
